Inauguration Day

I am sitting here having lunch with the new President of the United States of America. The only thing is he is at the capital in the Capitol having his lunch eating seafood and some kind of duck and I am in my living room having a fat free cheese wrap with plain sundried tomatoes and honey mustard.

Yet you cannot watch the beauty of the smooth change of power and the majesty of this historical event, without appreciating a philosophy that I have been living by for many years. This is that “All things are possible ….and that as long as there is life there is hope!

Now I do not use nor do I wish to use this blog page as a political platform and I try not to express my personal preferences but today I am an American and a proud one …as always. As a human being, I am so hopeful for both you and me personally. We all have our battles, our inner battles, often we have some victories, and sometimes we do not do as well.

Yet “All things are possible ….you just have to believe, not give up hope, never give up and never stop fighting! This inner faith has to give you an inner fire that is always burning. Sometimes the flame may be a little lower than other times, this is normal but the “flame of life” never goes out as long as we have life itself.

We have to fan our own “inner flames”. When all is said and done, it is I; it is you that has to fight ….today. We have to do the one thing positive for our self today. It may be making a healthier lunch choice, doing something physical, making a doctors appointment, healing a relationship, anything that in the end will help your life work better.

By the way if you do not think that one healthier choice for lunch does not make a difference let me tell you, those lunches add up and combined with a good breakfast, balanced dinner and the right kind of physical activity…it matters! Those pounds will come off and if done it the right way and the lifestyle changes are made for the better can only hope and pray and fight each day to stay healthy and continue to move forward in our life and dreams!

Today we witnessed a man who has followed his dream and the dreams of millions both present and past. On a greater scale we have seen that “All things are possible”, and in our own personal lives we must always remember that hope lives and we as individuals are powerful, we can change. Change is in the air and let it begin within ourselves.

Good luck my friends, brothers, and sisters in battle, the light of hope shines upon us all.

Good luck to our new President, good luck to all of us as citizens of the United States, members of the human race, and with our personal daily lives.
Good health, good attitude and do not give up hope because “All Things Are Possible …if you believe!
Love
Mike

All things are possible if you believe ... its funny i still have that plague on my wall from years ago ... a philosophy i try to live by daily and when things get bad ....I watched the inauguration yesterday and to me it is a day of hope and a day of new beginnings...and to me that is how i try to live each day when i get up a new beginning .. yesterday is gone today is now the and the future will bring what it may ...watching the president be sworn in all that came to mind was that we cannot live in the past anymore we have to let it go and allow the present to take place and hope and dream for things to be better and that is what i need to do in my own personal life....let go of the past .. and move on ...

Well that is what im doing im letting go and moving on to today and allowing today bring what it may and know that deep inside me i have the will to change things that might happen and accept the things i cannot change ...

Everyone have a great day and a brighter future

Love to you Mike

There is no better example that all things are possible than you, Mike. To all of us who share in the process of healing from this disorder, you are such a source of comfort and strength. There's nothing better than waking up and reading a message from Mike that figuratively puts an arm around all our shoulders and says, "It's going to be okay. There is always hope. Don't ever give up." We are so blessed to have you.

Hi Michael,
I'm commenting for the first time on your blog. This is a lovely time for America..I think that Obama is a ray of hope for this country and it just lifts my spirits and outlook on life. He really does symbolize the fulfillment of a dream, and that resonates deeply with everyone.

It seems like you're at a really clear point in your life, where you have more of a sense of balance and happiness. That is wonderful. I did learn about you from the Brookhaven show and I have to say I'm sorry for some ways they portrayed you, because you're clearly very self-actualized. But perhaps we all grow and learn from things that are bittersweet.

Blessings to you and I wish you the best! I agree with others that it would be awesome if you talked more about what you eat/recipes/ideas/pics. Thanks so much for a great blog!

Hi Mike
I agree with MaryLeigh (maybe not as sold yet on the President although I hope she is right) but I do agree that he does seem like a ray of hope and that we neeed. I too think that you also are a ray of hope to yourself and to many of us. We do want to know more about you and your daily life and struggle.
I pray for you and for all of us, bless you and MaryLeigh

My dear Carol
I miss you! Anyway from my experience that "past" can be a drag!! A big drag. It can hold one down, actually drown someone. Letting go is important but not easy, yet necessary in our growth. Sometimes we can do it on our own, sometimes we need help. Carol you know I support you in your journey, good luck!
Have a great day
Love ya

Dear Chubby
I am no therapist but you sound deep. I only hope your struggles, demons, battles are few. I hope that your victories are many. I support you from afar as much as I can. I feel I know you or at least know what you go through. Keep an open mind, a strong heart and practice forgiveness. True forgiveness is a powerful and cleansing process. Chubby good luck to you and inner peace.
Please continue to write
all my best wishes

Dear Kathy
We are all in a sort of "Brotherhood" and it is people like you that have helped me throughout the years. Loving, understanding, compassionate people like you. Kathy thank you for not staying to yourself and putting yourself out there and extending yourself to lend a kind word a helping hand!
The world is a nicer place because of people like you!

Dear Sid
Thank you for your friendly words and I am sure Kathy appreciates it also.
As for whom I voted for ...It seems like everyone in the country voted for the current President, even though it was 40 something million to 50 something million. The truth is and the most important thing is that President Obama has a monumental task in front of him. He needs all our best wishes and support to the extent that we can live with ourselves. Therefore, it really does not matter whom any of us voted for at this point besides the last time I checked in this country it was still our privilege to have a secret ballot. Have a great one Sid

Dear David
Even at my worse times, at my heaviest (over 1,000 pounds) and being bed bound, I never really gave up! There were times I thought I did and once for a moment I was stupid and almost did do a crazy thing. Yet deep down inside I never gave up. What I am trying to say, you may think you gave up, you may not realize you still have hoped, and that you still believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I bet you, that your flame of tomorrow is burning, that you still believe there is a chance for you. Want to bet? Okay ...here goes. You wrote to me! You asked for encouragement, you want help, you choose life, and you want a tomorrow.
Do not give up! Keep searching David, Never, Never give up!
All my best
Mike
